Trauma, Emergency, and Health Statistics Epidemiologist

The Trauma, Emergency, and Health Statistics Epidemiologist will provide support to the Bureau of Emergency Medical and Trauma Services and the Health Statistics Bureau on projects that utilize the epidemiological assessment and monitoring of data to identify public health concerns. Data sets include, but are not limited to vital events, emergency medical services (EMS) registry, and traumatic injury registry. This position will utilize statistical software to provide epidemiological analysis of data, create reports for internal and external stakeholders and utilize results to recommend action and/or new policies, procedures, and standards for EMS, Trauma, and Health Statistics quality improvement. This position will participate in a cross-collaborative manner to assist Iowa HHS programs using vital record data. This position will be the point of contact for and supervise the Iowa Traumatic Injury Registry including data tracking, statistical analysis, and data reporting utilizing state and national benchmarks and will provide technical assistance to end users. The position will provide expertise to the Department, external stakeholders, and the public regarding intentional and unintentional injury surveillance. This position will coordinate the System Evaluation Quality Improvement Subcommittee of the Trauma System Advisory Council.

Preference will be given to candidates with the any of the following qualifications:

  • Statistical Data Analysis Experience
  • SAS Experience
  • R Programming Language Experience
  • Quantitative Social Science Research Experience
