Pool and Tattoo Facility Inspector
Conducts routine and complaint based environmental health inspections and investigations on facilities regulated by the Department, to include pools/spas and tattoo facilities. Issues corrective action plans to pools and tattoo establishments with deficiencies and ensures timely response and follow up by facilities. Provide assistance to the bureau chief, unit lead, and program staff to support necessary investigatory and legal actions as advised by the IDPH assistant attorney general. Makes recommendations for and drafts enforcement actions to be taken against licensees that violate licensing provisions of applicable rules. Posts enforcement actions to public website when applicable. Participates in updating of pool/spa and tattoo program’s Iowa Administrative Code chapters.
Reviews and approves registration applications received by the Department from pool/spa facilities and tattoo establishments. Reviews waiver requests received by the Department from pool/spa facilities and tattoo establishments. Gathers and prepares information, and offers recommendations on the requested waiver for Environmental Engineer, AAG and Division Director review. Drafts communication back to the facility regarding the approval or denial of the waiver.
Drafts and maintains standard operating procedures related to pool and tattoo inspections. Performs desk or field compliance reviews and spot checks on current pool and tattoo contractors. Participates in the review of Lifeguard certification programs. Develops reports on registration status and fees due for the swimming pool and tattoo program.
