Community Resource Specialist
The Iowa Compass program at University of Iowa Health Care, Center for Disabilities and Development, Iowa’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities connects people with disabilities and complex health-related needs to services and supports in their communities throughout Iowa. Iowa Compass is looking for a Community Resource Specialist to provide information and referral services, conduct outreach and expand community resource listings for the Iowa Compass resource database
- Responds to public calls, texts, chats, and emails utilizing the social determinants of health as a framework for ensuring access to all available services and supports for Iowans with disabilities
- Utilizes training and experience with disability systems and an understanding of industry standards, the Iowa Compass resource database, and continual research to stay current and knowledgeable on new programs and services to provide information to the public and make appropriate referrals
- Serve as project lead and main point-of-contact for outreach initiatives across the state bringing awareness and visibility to the Iowa Compass program
- Researches and gathers detailed information about new organizations, programs, and services. Represents the Iowa Compass program by building connections with organizations and sharing the Iowa Compass mission.
